THE NIGHT CAFE NEWS & BLOG

An unusual chance for the New Year! | January 4, 2012
Wednesday Jan. 11th we'll be doing a special recording seminar and concert for the Haddon Township High School under the auspices of Joe Fallon and Bob Quaile with bassist Craig Thomas joining us. This is a great high school with a really sharp student body, making it an occasion to look forward to.

Into the fall season! | September 25, 2011
With the ending of the summer concert season, we find that the jobs we have coming up are all private weddings and parties. Stay tuned for further details of the holiday season as things come together, and thanks for your support!

Upcoming shows for Spring, 2011 | April 22, 2011
We're pleased to be included in the PIFA festivities at the Kimmel Center. Come and let us transport you to Paris, 1910! On Friday afternoon, April 22nd at 5PM, we'll be doing our European best at the Eiffel Tower replica in the lobby of the Kimmel. Unwind from the work week in the spacious room and let us take you away. And best of all, it's FREE!

Lots of new material | March 4, 2011
We took advantage of the winter doldrums to sit down and do a lot of work at the arranger's desk. Allan revamped the Last Tango in Paris material and Dave arranged the main theme from "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Elmer Bernstein, "Hedwig's Theme" from the Harry Potter films by John WIlliams, and a long medley of Ennio Morricone's work, including all of the spaghetti westerns as well as "Once Upon a Time in the West", "Once Upon a Time in America", "The Mission", and "The Untouchables". In addition, the Saint-Saens "Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso" is ready to go after much rehearsal. So come out and hear all the new stuff; if you've seen us before, you haven't seen all that we do yet!

Into the New Year | December 26, 2010
We want to thank all of our friends and fans that have supported us in 2010 as we get this new project up and working after almost 3 years of rehearsal. The response you've given us has been really inspiring and supportive and we look forward to new venues and the premiers of some very challenging repertoire on the upcoming dates. Please continue to check back for continuous updates of new gigs as they come in, or contact us to be included on the mailing list. Thank you, and Happy New Year!!

POSTPONEMENT of this Sunday's date | November 18, 2010
We have been requested to postpone this Sunday at Voorhees Town Center until December 21st, a Tuesday night. This works well for us as there will be a lot of folks out and about 4 days before Christmas. But please notice that we will NOT be in Voorhees this coming Sunday, November 21. Sorry for any inconvenience!

Sunday in Voorhees, NJ | November 16, 2010
We'll be doing two short sets at the Voorhees Town Center this Sunday. Come on out and see us in a very public arena for a change!

Upcoming projects | September 17, 2010
First, a hearty thank you to all that made it to Milkboy in Ardmore to see our sets there. You'll find audio from that night to the left, as well as new photos in the media gallery. We're working on some major classical works that are very technically demanding and will be adding them to the repertoire in the near future. We're also looking to compile the available recordings into a CD release for purchase here on the website, and at the performances, so keep an eye out!

Thanks for last night! | August 31, 2010
We want to thank all the people that made last night's sets at Sandi Pointe Bistro in Somers Point such a success, and especially a thanks to Tim Lekan for making it happen. We had a full house of friends and strangers and a lot of you spoke with us between sets. We're glad this music is touching you and hope to see you all again!

New audio examples and public concerts | August 11, 2010
We just recorded two fresh new arrangements yesterday and there's a free sample of our work in the audio examples on the left! Give a listen to Henry Mancini's "Two for the Road". Also, come join us at Sandi Point in Somer's Point NJ on Monday, August 30! This is the old Mac's on Shore Road (the lobster is still on the building) and we'll have 2 sets at 8:00 and 9:30 PM. See you there!
